How to Make a Video Game (Intro to Game Design)
The ultimate crash course in game design. Make your own game from scratch.
Ages: 9-15
Previous Experience Required: None (this class is for beginners)
Concepts Taught: Character design, level creation, game physics, essential coding principles and techniques, projectiles, menus, pickups and powerups, ammo, enemy AIs, and how to use the game design software.
This class teaches everything you need to know to create your very own video game. Students will go from having no former knowledge to having a grasp over the major concepts. Many other game-making classes don’t actually teach the actual underlying skills, like coding, but this class does!
As we go, we’ll all create games from scratch. Each class session, we’ll learn about a new concept, which students will have the option of adding to their games. They will have lots of freedom to customize their games however they see fit.
Students are guaranteed individual instruction and attention during each session to ensure that their learning is tailored toward exactly what they want out of game design.
