How to Draw Anything (Intro to Drawing)
The ultimate introduction to drawing from imagination.
Ages: 9-15
Previous Experience Required: None (this class is for beginners)
Concepts Taught: Geometric shapes and how to break objects down, shading, lines, perspective, value, color, composition, and more.
In this class, students will learn everything they need to know in order to draw anything from imagination, from flowers to dragons! We’ll start with the very basics and slowly add new concepts each week. Eventually, we’ll be drawing dragons, spaceships, and more.
Each class session will be interactive. We’ll learn a concept, and then immediately work on a drawing project together that puts it into practice. As we go, the teacher will check in with each student to make sure that they understand, and to offer helpful advice and feedback on the way. At the end of each class, students will be given an assignment to further practice what we learned. Then, at the start of class the next week, they’ll have the opportunity to share their homework and progress with the class.
Each student will get individual time with and attention from the teacher, and the teacher will answer all questions both in and outside of class. By the end of the class, we’ll be creating awesome drawings from our imaginations!

I watched the lesson over my daughter’s shoulder each week and it was great! The teacher drew along with the students, breaking the drawings down into manageable chunks so the kids could follow along. Shapes made it easier
Cody’s way of breaking down big drawings into small shapes was cool. Drawing a car was way easier when it was just a bunch of rectangles and circles first.
We had so much fun sharing at the start of each class session, that was our favorite part
The structure and format of this class were really superb. Cody has a great process built for the class. The students ask questions through the Zoom chat, and even when it gets kind of chaotic with the kids all needing help at once, Cody is able to handle it effortlessly, helping them quickly and efficiently one by one, getting the class right back on track. That’s a sticking point that has bogged down some online classes we have taken before. But this one went great, and they were able to learn and practice many concepts. The kids also get the share at the beginning of each class, which helps motivate them to work on their homework each week. We had a lot f fun sharing, and Cody gives great feedback and encouragement.
